crossing swords

This is an extension of my friend's status update that states that crossing swords (sleeping with the same people) is not uncommon. Everyone has either slepts, or going to sleep with someone who slept with someone they know. Which got me thinking. Last night when I stayed in, ordered pizza and watched gossip girl on dvd, I kept asking myself why has all the characters slept with one another? Its like the most unlikely characters, blair and dan are going to hook up. Its like nate slept with serena who slept with dan who slept with vanessa who slept with chuck who slept with vanessa who also slept with nate who slept with blair who is also going to sleep with blair who has slept with chuck as well.

Its confusing at times, but a friend told me before that he wanted to sleep with his best friends. I never had that feeling because my best friends are just my best friends, nothing more. Then came the status update of my friend about crossing swords. It's true that we slept with the same person before but we thought it would end there. But it turns out this person I've slept with also wants to sleep with him. I don't mind of course but its funny when I think about it.

Its like I slept with person A who slept with B who slept with C who slept with D who slept with my friend B who slept with C who slept with my friend who slept with A as well who slept with me. It feels as though the community is so big but it actually is quite small. The young, beautiful and fabulous scene in any city are so small that everyone is hooking up with everyone. Sure, its not really like gossip girl but I can understand where the author got the inspiration from.
