MARIO SORRENTI - PIRELLI CALENDAR 2012

First of all, the calendar was shot in Corsica by Mario Sorrenti, who was in attendance and who is exceptionally easy on the eyes (he’s a former model). Second of all, every single model in the calendar is as naked as the day she was born, and we were treated to a 20-minute long behind-the-scenes video documenting the shoots of all 12 models. Suffice to say there was a lot of glistening flesh (in almost every scene an assistant is seen spritzing down the models), and a lot of come-hither looks. Here are the ladies who the lucky recipients will get to ogle in 2012: Isabeli Fontana, Natasha Poly, Saskia de Brauw, Lara Stone, Joan Smalls, Guinevere Van Seenus, Malgosia, Edita Vilkevicute, Kate Moss, Milla Jovovich, Margareth Made, and Rinko Kikuchi.

Shockingly, because Pirelli is an Italian company, Sorrenti is the first Italian to ever shoot the calendar. But he’s well-known for his prowess shooting tasteful nudes, so this was a natural fit for him. In an interview with Glenn O’Brien that was included in the press materials, Sorrenti said, “I always thought about taking clothes off as a way of getting closer to the individual and the person, and of getting something that was more honest and pure.” And what about his high profile subjects?

In the video Sorrenti said of long-time friend Kate Moss, “Kate I’ve known for 20 years. I can’t do this without her.” Kate’s take was, “He loves the female form.” Yes. The most endearing commentary came from Lara Stone, who said of the shoot, “It’s not in-your-face sexy. It’s more innocent-sexy. Don’t know why they hired me!” She also said she’d like to do the calendar every year until she’s 75.

There are a total of 25 pictures that made it into the calendar, 18 black and white and seven in color. The calendar’s owner can choose who to feature every month–it’s an interactive calendar which allows you to switch the girls at will. We’ve got all 25 shots below. Who would you feature for your birthday month? (And this is NSFW, unless your workplace is fine with moist, naked models communing with nature.)
