Memorable Meals: Cured meat in Ibiza

The beautiful Balearic island of Ibiza (known locally in Catalan as Eivissa). The land of high-quality party, of decadence, of stylish happy hour taken by the sea at sunset. The bf and I had to chance to get to know this island well enough, as he worked over there for a few summers. How lucky we felt!

When on the isla, please do yourself a favour and head to the quiet little town of Santa Gertrudis to eat at famous cafe Ca’n Costa. You’ve been to Spain, you know that jamón Serrano is freakin’ delicious. But here they have special breed pata negra. And they are pros. By the time the pata negra, or the cured lomo, is thinly sliced from the perfectly-aged leg of pork, and brought to your table with a plate of fresh pan con tomate (bread rubbed with tomato and sprinkled with olive oil), all the fat will have melted. And you will be left with slices of heavenly cured meat and the perfect snack. The first time the bf brought me here, he warned me of the litres of water that would be necessary following such a meal. EXTREME THIIIIRST did follow! But he also swore this would be memorable. And it was. Who doesn't love cured meat??? I’m salivating as I write this.
