Interesting Reads.

I've been reading a lot of books lately (as compared to usual). Most of them are about stories of interesting and influential women. I'm not sure why but I'm interested in books about queens and politicians, you know, since i'm the queen and all. Anyhow, I read the book about the last empress of China, pretty impressive stuff, it was apparently based on historical facts but it is fiction. And the White Queen was also similar. The rice mother is about 5 generations of family living in Malaysia. Pretty interesting.
I wanted a book about Margaret Thatcher but sadly I couldn't find it. SO another book looked interesting, so I decided to go with Game Change. Its about the 2008 elections between Obama, Clinton, McCain and Palin. I saw it to be rather interesting. So, being in the current mood that I'm in, depressed and uninspired, I decided to buy that book.
Since my blackberry went all haywire on me, and Im constantly disconnected from the world, I look to reading as a form of inspiration and as a form of time killer. It's nice to get out of the miserable world that I am in and get into the world of inspiration from other people. I like being transported into the world that the author of the book created and just be lost in it.

Current happenings

I'm currently reading The Inheritance Of Loss by Kiran Desai, it's a story that is set in the north-eastern Himalayas. It's quite good so far, it started off boring at first but slowly as the pages start turning, the story gets more interesting and witty. I've been reading like crazy lately. And I don't plan to stop reading. It's quite a useful habit because it improves one's vocabulary level (and mine is pretty shit).

I also dropped my blackberry and the thingy on top of the screen came off:( but i I went to the convenient store and got some super glue to stick it back. So I have my own patchwork Blackberry. My ear phones are also fucked and I really feel like getting an ipod, but at the same time i saw this nice bag at hugo boss, and also the ticket to Kylie Minogue's concert in Singapore. So it's either one of those, that I have to pick. Which sucks, but oh well.

I've also managed to finish three assignments that were due friday, I can tell you that I was multi tasking like a bitch, switching between three assignments, One Journal, One major essay and one Sound editing drama. I'm here still doing my last one which is due monday, but it's all good! After I'm done facebook-ing, I will start sourcing for articles to read tomorrow:)

Eat Pray Love

So I've been reading like crazy lately (Crazy as compared to before) because I have no friends now (whom I hang out with everyday) in KL and I read to get my mind of things, well, basically to transport myself into the world of imagination.

So I read a book by Elizabeth Gilbert which was turned into a film called Eat, Pray, Love. The film was pretty good, but the book was so much better. At the time of reading the book I was feeling down due to a failed 'relationship'. With me feeling alone, and reading the book, I felt as though I'm not the only one going through this. And that I could relate to the author.

However, I borrowed this book to my best friend who was happy and when she read the book she became sad. So i guess it works both ways. It goes through her journey of recovering, starting with Italy, India and then Indonesia. It's so nice to see how she started to think less and less of her previous problems and started focusing on her life more.

It's a good book to read, it's very easy to relate to the author and you find yourself smiling after reading the book:)
