Pussy Willow

Branch with catkins in early springImage via Wikipedia"I have a little pussy,
Her coat is silver grey,
I found her in the meadow,
Not very far away,
My little silver pussy,
Will never be a cat,
'Cause she's a pussy-willow,
Now what do you think of that' - trad. rhyme.

Pussy willow fronds were often collected when families 'went a-palming' to collect plants suitable to stand in for palm fronds for Palm Sunday.
