Married Olympians: We Can’t Live Together During Games, But Gay Couples Can

AUSTRALIAN shooter Russell Mark says he has been prevented from rooming with wife Lauryn while gay couples will share beds at this months Olympics.

Russell and Lauryn were last night officially notified by Australian chef de mission Nick Green via email that they would be prevented from rooming together.

The decision is believed to have come from Shooting Australia, but Russell believes his pro-sleeping pill stance and wife Lauryn's Zoo photo shoot have angered Olympic officials.

They were told they would have to leave the village and rent a hotel to stay together, but both will instead stay in the village and compete.

Lauryn's Zoo photo shoot, in which she is shown toting her shot-gun while in a green and gold bikini, will be released this morning ahead of the couples 3pm flight to London.

But Mark says there is a clear double standard given many gay sportspeople on elite teams are in relationships but a heterosexual couple cannot room together.

"The stupid part of this, which I have argued to them, is that there are tons of gay couples on the Olympic team who will be rooming together so we are being discriminated against because we are heterosexual." Mark said.
