The Mentalist Blinking Red Light: All is Forgiven

There are already plenty of long-winded courtroom procedure shows, Although what i was asking for in the season 4 premiere would have been lovely . Tonight's show says, Forget the tiny excruciating layers of real-time reality-based detail, forget reality regurgitation, Let yourself read the fun sexy crime novel, have some fun, keep it moving, and enjoy the plotline like a surfing expedition.

As you watched the final 10 minutes of Blinking Red Light, as you heard Patrick Jane allow, nudge, ignite the conflagration of the San Joaquin Killer by opening the space for him to Insult Red John--did your skin crawl? Did you get a chill? Was there ANY doubt about what you would see as you turned that corner with Jane, into the big crashing wave?!

The Mentalist 4 Premiere: Do you have any tea? (fail)

4.1 scarlett ribbons    Oh, sadness. This premiere was coming off of one of the best cliffhangers. This show had pizzazz and a wonderful mix of humor, realism, fantasy, imagination, and timing.
They blew the timing in this season 4 premiere.

The Mentalist post 1 re music HERE
Post 2 re sociopath, red john, tyger HERE
I was SO ready for at least a half season-long working though
of this incident.  With the details! give us the details.
We wanted to see a few hands of poker in the pokey. we did not even get one! We wanted the team to show its abilities in The Tracing of the minions of Red John who made it look like there was no gun or phone; the unraveling of the RJ network, the obtaining of the Million Dollar bail, even this premiere episode could have been worked into it. The Righteous Anger of Grace!
But to Wrap It Up!? NO NO!! bad dog.

Biggest gaffe:
No one who watches TV can get past the unrealism of a murder trial that happens within weeks of the event. No one!
Oh, sadness.
HERE is one writer who understands:
Swamp of Boredom writes: "...as far as the legal repercussions, over in 42 minutes. Jane had the quickest murder trial in legal history. Lisbon was still wearing her arm sling so, let’s be generous and say she wore that for 6 weeks, though in reality, probably only a few days passed. Where was the media frenzy? Where was the snail paced court system? This is California, after all. Those are two hallmarks of California justice...."
Actually, this lengthy post from swamp of boredom says most of what i wanted to say.
Even like, Lisbon never looked better; Red John will go after her; the inconsistencies of how the team dealt with the aftermath...
In a couple scenes of Lisbon and Jane- i thought, this is the sexiest couple on tv. But when i saw they were going to wrap this up in one episode, i yelled, NO! Make him be dreaming!
I had almost hoped that when he started talking about how the killing did not really resolve anything for him, he would WAKE UP from the dream, still in prison...and realize perhaps he did not want to kill RJ anymore...

I am not pleased about this.
However,
i have decided to make T-shirts that say:

I want to be like Cho.
 i wanna be like CHO

Iwannabelike CHO

The Tyger (william blake) The Mentalist (patrick jane) and The Sociopath (red john) Addendum

Simon Baker in The Mentalist has a delicious acting task: on the one side Patrick Jane must be deeply good-- to love kindly, deeply, passionately; to allow others their foibles and their own path. No control freak he; babies like him and his hopes are for the good for others. He must be good that he might keep our love even while he does a great evil.
Latest season Premiere post HERE

On the other side he must invite darkness into his very self. He must mete justice within the circle of his life as he does not discern justice as belonging to God. Since diabolical evil has inserted itself into his life all else becomes trivial, as one who has lost a loved one no longer can bear the daily musings and complaints of friends and neighbors.
The darkness he invites into himself must be there to obsess, to hunt, and to kill the evil that murdered his source of love.
Question:
can /will his darkness overshadow his good?

The Sociopath
(part 1 here) has a duality as well.
He must appear good, particularly caring, solititous for the good of others in order to better gain trust and eventually, control.

His charm and sheep's clothing, however, are eventually, always, overcome by his selfish side, his disdain, his malevolence. A large part is about winning-- s/he will "make up" with an estrnaged love, for example, in order to be the one who then breaks up-- i.e., Wins.

After the show:
The nonchalance,
the banality, lack of empathy lack of realisation of the reality of others
of the sociopath.
Rjohn is grandly allowing
jane to move on. Redjohn is kindly giving
Patrick his life back. [[Like real life Hank Earl Carr in Tampa florida,
after his killing spree in the nineties, expansively Granting his Hostage Her Life.]]
Red John could not resist
being the one giving the last word,
the great gesture, the winner,
the better man.

Duality is the theme in much of William Blake's work.
Red John's taunting clue to Jane was from
 The Tyger.

One source to study The Tyger with links to the art of william blake and his wife is HERE.
" Songs of Innocence was published first, alone, in 1789; when the combined Songs of Innocence and Experience appeared, its subtitle, “shewing the two contrary states of the human soul,” explicitly indicated the author’s intention to pair the two groups of poems..."

Yikes. got pulled away.

THE TYGER (from Songs Of Experience)  By William Blake

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare sieze the fire?

And what shoulder, & what art.
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? & what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

Duality

Finale finally here.
 first quote of the night:
"You're not the boss of me."
by the way, it is hard to
swallow the lack of professionalism of Grace in this episode. hard to buy.

2." No Thanks." (exit. stage down...)

winner:
3.   "Can I get the Check, Please?"

Here is a post with some thoughts after the end.
and some interesting comments HERE

Real Love involves Pain

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places Worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going no where Going no where Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression No expression Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow No tomorrow

No tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad world Mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday Happy birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen Sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me No one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me Look right through me And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take When people run in circles its a very very
