Harvest Festival in Klang Valley

So Pesta Kaamatan or in other words, Harvest Festival, is a yearly Kadazan Dusun event celebrated in Sabah during the end of May, where the Crops are ready to be Harvest. Traditionally only celebrated in Sabah, the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association in Klang Valley usually celebrate this event every year and have been doing so over the last 15 years. Traditional Performances can be found during this event as well as a gathering of many Sabahans whom are based in West Malaysia.

So, in tradition, every district in Sabah will have an Unduk Ngadau (Harvest Queen) and send them to compete in the State Level competition and this pageant is usually quite popular in it's Native Sabah. So being registered as a District, Klang Valley is also included in the entire selection and have to send their representative as well. I was asked to make an appearance there and there were also various Sabahan Individuals there like Mandy Nandu (Former Unduk Ngadau, Current Miss Malaysia Earth), Esther (One in a Million Reality Show First Runner up), Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Panglima Pairin Kitingan (Former Chief Minister of Sabah) and more.

It was quite tiring but when i was at the Hotel itself, i felt as though I am back home in K.K because of the familiarity of the language and the people. Everyone from the event seem to know everyone and it was nice for me to see so many Sabahans gather in one place to celebrate the event. It makes me want to go back home even more. But all and all, the event was quite good. I was happy to be a part of it and will definitely be back again next year.

I miss home. :(

xoxo
