On the occasion of American Thanksgiving, I started to think about expats all over the world and how they choose to celebrate the various holidays away from home. Some gather in community and try to recreate a part of home, while some are so immersed in the local culture that they skip the celebrations altogether. Although I have spent my fair share of time abroad, I have never had to confront a culture that is so different from my own. I did spend Christmas in Italy, but except for the fact that turkey is replaced by fish, nothing really changes.
What about here in Asia?
